Crime in Kempton Park and surroundings is on the rise, it is uncertain what the reason for this is…….
I now pose the question…..Why?????
Is it because of a lack of vehicles at the SAPS?
Is it because of a lack of police officers?
Is it because of a lack of interest from the SAPS?
I don’t know the answer, but can certainly confirm that Alpha Security has not reduced the amount of vehicles in the area, nor have our response time increased; in fact our response time has decreased in the past 3 months.
Here are some interesting statistics for you to peruse:
Total Number Police Officers (excluding civilians) 155 729 March 2013
Total Population 47 849 800 (Mid-Year estimate for 2007 – Source: Statistics South Africa)
Ratio of Police Officers
Nationally 1 : 307 (1 police official for every 307 citizens)
Eastern Cape 1 : 369 (1 police official for every 369 citizens)
Free State 1 : 261 (1 police official for every 261 citizens)
Gauteng 1 : 293 (1 police official for every 293 citizens)
Kwazulu/Natal 1 : 428 (1 police official for every 428 citizens)
Limpopo 1 : 476 (1 police official for every 476 citizens)
Mpumalanga 1 : 392 (1 police official for every 392 citizens)
Northern Cape 1 : 178 (1 police official for every 178 citizens)
North West 1 : 374 (1 police official for every 374 citizens)
Western Cape 1 : 259 (1 police official for every 259 citizens)
I obtained these statistics from: http://www.saps.gov.za/_dynamicModules/internetSite/buildingBlocks/basePage4/BP444.asp
Reading the above statistics, it`s clear that the SAPS needs more officers, I also think that the amount of resources available to them needs to be addressed.
Rest assured that Alpha Security is committed to the fight against crime, we will try our best to look after the interest of our clients, although we cannot prevent loss or damage, we will try to reduce the loss or damage to a minimum.
